Did a bit if research I believe this is Earl chinna smith on his Les Paul.

Yeah, I didn't hear anything remarkable about it. Just super clean and like c7 said, delay and reverb. Doesn't even sound particularly like a tube amp, either.

is it standard tuning on the guitar or can you tell?

I think you'd have to use something like a treble booster, but it's a clavicord keyboard so ideally use one of those crazy midi roland units then put it through a guitar amp.

I'd not want to emulate that - just listen to all the kids in college playing guitars and hear that tone all the time - and the mistakes! The backing has taken much more care to get right. That guitar tone, playing and style really sounds naff!
