Too much reverb and effects ... toys destroy beauty
Too much reverb, the performing here is good enough where you don't have to hide it from us with effects. Any fool can record effects, you ain't no fool, you are a 'homerecording.com' artist, don't forget that. We want to 'hear YOU', not your effects. At least I do

.
This is a beautiful song.
The guitar fills are a little too loud, the bass is fine, the bass could stand a little more delay. Very tasteful bass player, he knows his place here, and that makes him an excellent bass player.
The vocal is mixed out front enough, but of course there is a tremendous amount of sibilance generated from the slathering of the effects on the lead vocal.
Also, the backup harmony vocal is totally buried by the effects. Harmony vocals are GOLDEN, don't cheat us, let us enjoy them.
You may have compressed the vocal just a bit too much, can't really tell yet, there is a huge amount of dynamic quality to this vocal, use more of it, let it out of the jail that compression can create for a lead vocal.
At 2:24 this Instrumental Break is mixed well.
Your voice is more than good enough to shine in this song, don't tarnish it with so much effect. You are you, and you ain't gonna be nobody else with those boxes all over you.
You don't need a 'de-esser' YOU have CREATED the sibilance you think is 'sssssing'
Sing this song straight, it's a great song, I'd love to put some violin fills in it, I hear some cello coming out in places also, doubling and supporting the bass line ... maybe.
At 3:40, when ya'll go up in this high vocal register, roll some serious tap delay off that, roll it around, now that is a very appropriate place to use effects, but the rest of the song has to be much drier of course for that contrast to be effective.
At 3:11 when the hat comes in, the sibilance on the vocal caused by the overuse of effects, causes there to be little contrast sonically in the mix for the hat to be effective here, it just reminds us of the sibilance in the vocal ...
Also, the sidestick is too loud, sonically the natural tendency of a sidestick or woodblock is to CUT THROUGH ANYTHING ... so folks are always mixing it too loud. A rule of thumb I think can be considered, is if the sidestick or woodblock is used very little, then it becomes an instrument of opportunity and should cut through for the brief time it is presented in a piece of music, but if it's a re-curring element, it needs to be mixed way, way back, becuase it's natural tendancy is to cut straight through to the core of our ears, so it's a very powerful instrument naturally. And it can distract massively and annoy if not mixed very tastefully.
Dudes, I'm giving this song 5 stars, I give the mix 2 stars because you hid the vocal from me, and the backup vocals.
Really nice song, please re-mix this without all the effects. Thanks for sharing.
Man, I could listen to this a bunch of times ...
