Hi, I've got a few questions for you.

Today I bought a Beringher B1 mic, an Audiobuddy and the Audiophile sound card from M-Audio. I did install all drivers, but my mic is still giving me no sound. How do I have to connect the preamp (audiobuddy), the sound card and the mic together? Why does my mic giving mic no sound?

Thanks

Plug the mic into the input of the audiobuddy, and plug the audiobuddy into the audiophile.

Power up the audiobuddy. Turn down the gain on the audiobuddy, then switch on the phantom power, and ramp up your gain.

You should show some input on the audiophile's meters.

But how do I plug the Audiobuddy with the Audiophile? Which cable, etc...?

1) Plug the mic (via xlr mic cable) into one of the mic inputs in the audiobuddy.
2) Plug a 1/4" plug into the output of the same channel of the audiobuddy that the mic is plugged into, and plug the other end into one of the line ins of your soundcard (you may need an adapter for this)
3) Plug the power adapter(wallwart) into the audiobuddy (this could have been done at any time)
4) Make sure gain is on zero
5) Power up audiobuddy
6) Phantom power on
7) Set gain up halfway or so

Now you have to mess with your soundcard's software controls to set line in volume, make sure it's not muted, etc.

A cable with 1/4' plug on one end, and RCA plug on the other (or if it's like a guitar cable, get a 1/4" to RCA adapter for one end.)

Here's what one type of adapter looks like.

I did all those steps, but still, my mic doesn't rec a sound. I did verify if it was on ''mute''. Damn ! :/

Make sure that your settings are recording from the Line Input. For me, I double click on the speaker icon in the bottom right of the screen, and then choose Options > Properties

Here select Recording options, and make sure to select Line in

When you speak into the mic, does the green signal light on the audiobuddy flash on?

Are you using a windows operating system? If so, right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and open "adjust audio properties". Make sure the sound recording preferred device is the audiophile card, and that the line in volume for the card is selected and up at least halfway.
(Basically the same thing CanopuS said - just a different way of going about it.)

WINDOWS MULTIMEDIA SETTINGS: Windows may be set up to use the
Audiophile as its default audio device, allowing system sounds to be played through
the Audiophile. This also enables you to use the Audiophile with the sound applets
included with Windows. To set this up, go to Control Panel | Multimedia. In the
Audio Properties page, set the Playback and Recording devices to the
Audiophile 2496 input and output devices of your choice.

There's your problem - the audiophile drivers don't speak French!:)

Unfortunately I don't have the card, so I can't really help. It looks like there is another recording device above the "EES Audiodrive Record(1820)" (which I assume is the audiophile card) that's not showing - what is that?

Also, you're set up to playback thru the audiophile - how are you monitoring that?

You might want to post a link to this thread as a new thread in the computer recording and soundcards forum - there's some smart folks over there.

Looks to me like the ESS is a built in sc and he needs to select the DeltaAP for record and playback and he should be ready to rock-n-roll.

Yup, I think you're right.

SounB - let us know if that works.

Well, that would save him a lot of stress and heartache in the future.
