How to use all that stuff we have in our Bandroom to record properly.

Hey my name is John.
I am from switzerland and we try to record songs with our band.
We have quite a lot of equippment in our Bandroom and i wanted to know what's the best way to set this stuff up for recoarding.

- We have a computer

- we have 2 Speakers and 2 Subwoofers connected to the the mixer through a amp

- there is a samson 7kit microphone kit for the drums http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1678
- there is also a shure sm 57 http://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones/sm/sm57-instrument-microphone
- A lot of cables
- Guitar amp/bass Amp
- A lot of microphones for singing

So what is the best way of Connecting all this stuf together for A. Recording and B. Rhersal

Another problem is that we don't know how to connect the two Speaker sysetems... We have the "main" system with the behringer eurodesk, an amp, and then 2 speakers and 2 subwoofers. most of the time we conect a cable to the mono output of the eurodesk an plug this in to one of the channels of the Peavy powermixer. Is there a better way to connect all 4 speakers and 2 Subwoofers ?

How did you end up with all that stuff but don't know how to hook it up? Win a bet, repo'd it or something??

following happened:
Wenn our band was formed we found a nice room. The landlord of the room was very kind and told us he would isolate the room for us. We did not have any equippment so we bought the peavy powermixer with the speakers. Then after wating about 2 months for our room to be ready we called the landlord to ask him if it was done... then he told us that he could not give us the room because he was not allowed to isolate it for firesafety reasons. So we looked for something new.. We found a new place that was allready isolated. When we moved to the new room we had the chance to take all the furniture (chairs/table/sofa etc.) plus the 2 speakers, 2 subwoofers, the behringer eurodesk and the amp for it for a very good price. So thats the reason why we have two different speakersytems.

Well, you have a good start for a live room, but not the best for recording. Have a look at page 12 of the behringer manual. This is probably as good a place as any to start. Instead of the recorder, go into the Presonus and then that to your computer.

You don't have a decent enough interface to do a lot of multi tracking though, so the best you will get is a stereo left and right into your DAW to record.

@moresound - Yeah this was pretty sweet. The previous owners really built a kind of studio with two different rooms. One for the musicians and the second for the computerstuff, separated with a wall including a closable door and a window you can look inside the big room.


So guys is there any possiblility to connect these two speaker systems without taking the mono output from the eurodesk to one input on the peavy powermixer ?

Hey Mr. Hancock ...... you can always try a "Y" cable. that is if I understand your question right.

So we recorded a few songs yesterday with the setup washburn100 recomanded. And we found a new problem. In order to listen to the recorded sound we connected the output from the pc to the mixer on one channel. Because it goes through this equalizer things with high mid and low buttons it is not the real sound and later at home it all sounds different. We definately need to change this. so i suddenly realized the use of monitor speakers.
What recording software would you recommend ?
We used Audacity wich was very simple to operate but i thing it does not have a lot of possibilities.

So on the recordings we have somtimses a little click and pop sounds how can we improve this?
