Ok, this is my first time on this site and I've browsed through some of the sections here. I am completely new to this and am interested in learning how to create techno/trance music. What is the best way to start, preferably with my home PC until I learn a bit more? Any beginner's advice is appreciated.

Fruity loops IMO is the best starter software, very easy learning curve, kinda cheesy samples but sufficient to start out makin trancey stuff on and not too expensive, not sure the $ dese days tho.

Techno/Trance for beginners definately Fruityloops. You can get it for a c-mote or so

If you have more money, ACID from Sonic Foundry is good. Also, Recycle and Rebirth from Propellerhead. Even better is Reason, from the same company. Learning curves may be steeper.

ummmm I woul have to agree that rebirth is the easiest to learn

Guys never messed around w/ rebirth, but is it really easier than FL, didn't know such a thing existed! #4 don't be afraid to check out the electribe series from Korg either, depending on how much $ you gots and/or what you already have for a PC this could be the cheaper route, besides it makes you feel like a bit more of a musician!
