I delete tracks and most all the original recording and re-save as a bun file and the file size remains the same…what’s with that?

i don't use bun files anymore (i use per-project folders). the only thing i can think of is that the non-original recordings are actually tied to the original. like when you do a clone of a track or a copy/paste of a track that in reality points to the original track rather than doing a "deep" copy.

Bounce any slip-editted clips back to a track otherwise they will be referencing a whole bunch of different versions of the same take for each slip-edit.

Thanks. That reduced the file size considerably. I had 2 tracks and bounced each one individually...back to it's original location by default I guess. Loads much faster now...thanks.

Actually you don't need to bounce the tracks. Just use the Apply Trim command.

Cool - thanks for that! I always thought that also applied the gain staging, though....

Actually, I always thought that bouncing to tracks applied the gain staging - AND any effects on the track. :)

Yup, that works too. So which is the best way?

It's a case of choose your own adventure... Whatever works for you.

Nope, that doesn't do it.
Hmm. I thought it cleared all the old (unused) takes.
I would have sworn the file got smaller...maybe it was just my audio folder once it got to large for a 'bun burn.

I believe it cleans out the unused wave files from whatever directory or "folder" they're in, but I'm speaking in terms of individual bun files.

Yup... Cleaning Audio Folder will only erase unused audio data from HD (folder), if you need more space on the disk. However, it won't affect file size being saved (either .bun or .cwb). Apply Trim command on clips will :)

And the only difference between Apply Trimming and Bounce to Clips is that the former preserves the individual clips, whereas the latter creates one new clip of all the trimmed pieces.
