I basicly have to record a song that i have made for my GCSE project :-(
What is the best way to record guitar without micing it. Am i right in thinking that i can plau my lead from my headphone out socket on my amp into the line in on my Audigy platinum ex external card and then record straight into cubase?
If im wrong then how could i record, i have an Amp, guitar, external sound card with all inputs, mic, line in/out etc and Cubase.Help me!!! :)

if your amp has an out from the preamp, that would work much better, or just a line out anywhere.

could i plug a lead from my amps headphone socket to my audigy line out and it would sound ok? i dont have a pre amp just normal amp

some normal amps have a line level out on the back of them, if you have this option it is better.

the headphone out will work (i said work, not work good or, this is the correct way to do it) but make sure the volume on the amp isn't to high.

oh and.... make sure it's a line IN

Ok i have connected it all i have my guitars line out connected to my sound cards line in but how do i record when i load up Cubase and select audio track nothing happens when i play

We need more details on your setup. It sounds like your soundcard is not configured properly in cubase. Which version of cubase are you using?

If you have a devices menu, make sure the audigy is selected as the input and output device and that on your active track, you've selected the correct channel (Left is usually the default for a mono signal coming from an amp out).

I have got it to work, i have conencted my Marhsall G15RCD's Line out to my sound cards line in. The soundcard is rubbish, but i am getting a sound blaster 2 audigy platinum Ex sound card. When i record though with this setup, the amp volume has to be high or it doesnt pick up anything and when it records there is always background ''fuzzing''.
1. I have the lead conencted from my amps line out to the sound cards line in, is that the right way to set it up?

2. Could the fuzzing be caused because my sound card is crap, will the new sound card solve this, or could it be the lead?

That "fuzzing" could be any number of things:
1. Ground fault in your amp.
2. The pickups in your guitar picking up electrical interference from your house (again, a grounding thing).
3. Bad patch chord.
4. A bad connector to your line out in your amp.
5. Bad connector in your soundcard.
You'll have to check all these things out.

how would i stop it from the electrical interference from other things?

A power conditioner, better pickups in your axe. That's all I know. Perhaps someone else can make more suggestions...
