I just got an AT2020 Condensor Mic and i connect it through my Fast Track USB interface to my computer and I can record fine with it but through programs like Mixcraft & Pro Tools, it sounds just a bit distorted compared to when I hear myself through the "Direct Monitor" button on the interface. Does anyone know how to make my voice sound crystal clear? What are some effects I should use also? (Such as chorus, compressor, reverb, etc.)?

I just got into recording, thanks.

Doesn't the direct monitor button just switch the interface between what you hear in the headphones and what you hear in the monitors? Can you post what you have already done so that we can have an idea of what you need. Its difficult to say what plugins would work without hearing what you have. With what you using though you should be getting a good clear sound without using any effects. Try to experiment and see what works best. For most vox tracks people typically use reverb and compression, beyond that its all up to the person mixing the recording.

For me the AT2020 works and sounds just fine and is not distorted whatsoever.

You should verify the following:
1) check if the sound source your recording is not overloading the mic, if it is then you should back off the mic and/or reduce the volume of the sound source
2) check if your preamp gain is not push too hard, your preamp might bring in some distorted gain.

Also if you're recording vocals you should probably use a pop filter.

Good luck

Really, I agree with you, And you provide very nice information about the setup of the AT2020.
