A Sarcastic Statement
If this belongs in a different thread, please inform. Thanks.
Am I a complete baboon? I can't seem to explain to anyone or search the right thing to find out this seemingly simple operation I'd like to do. I am a drummer in a rock band. I have recorded my band in my studio and through out the recording process, we added some cool sounds to some of our tunes that we'd like to incorporate live...like an intro/outro music sample, a little 2 bar distorted drum beat during a pause in the songs, bass drops, etc.
2 of the guys in my band have ipad 2's. I was wondering if there was any way to play these files on the fly, without scrolling through menus or itunes. I want to be able to operate it since I am the drummer. I can reach over and just touch the sample on the iPad that I want played. Currently, they are wav files, but I can convert them to mp3 or whatever need be.
I have attached a picture of what I imagined would be the perfect software on iPad (I drew it on my computer). I am picturing a MIDI controller, but virtual without real buttons. Only problem is, these files are not MIDI files and as far as I can find, the only way to convert an audio file to MIDI is to convert the pulse of the file to MIDI, not the sound itself. Pretty lost.
BUT IT SEEMS SO EASY, YA KNOW!? Lemme know if you can help. Thanks!
