Just another guy, really.
I got a few pups, including one HB. It's got NO markings on it- nothing. Here's as complete a description as I can give:
Standard HB size. Gold cover. one row of pole-piece screws, gold. Potted with black "was." G type mounts, but short, only raise pup about 1/4" from a flat surface. wire has metal jacket over it. Two connectors- said jacket, white-plastic wire inside it. Test at 5.2 K ohms (as best I can read my own handwriting!)

Is this anything special, perhaps, or a glorified paperweight?

Thanks.

Huh. 5.2 seems kinda low for a humbucker. I wonder if it's fake and really just a single-coil inside. I have a couple like that on a cheapo. Does it sound any good?

Dunno how it sounds, never mounted it. Probably, I mis-read my pencil writing on the wax.

Fair enough. I'm guessing it's just some generic thing. You know the test, though -- if it sounds good, keep it. It'd be easy enough to make a little cardboard mount that holds the pickup above the strings, upside-down, to test it out.
