how to make CD Booklets???

unless you have a lot of extra money.. i wouldnt bother with a new printer and all that.. got o kinkos (or similiar) and do it your self... especially for black and white..(i havent tried color).. dbl side copy your cover, then they will cut it for you for $1.25 a cut .. the whole stack at the same time.... make sure your artwork has 1/8 -1/4" extra colour around the outside, and unused space in the interior.. to make sure nothing gets cut off, or left white (they arent very precise... but way easier then hand slicing 1 at a time, which you could also do there)...

it cost me aroung $40 to print and cut 110 b&w- inside and back covers..

(though next time ill pay a cd duplicator the extra cash to have them do it)

I would have to agree with seismetr0n. I would try to figure how much color and/or B&W ink cartridges you'll be going through to print a batch of inserts yourself and try to figure out if it's actually going to save you money. Add to that the expense of the paper itself, paper cutter, and whatever other consumables you'll go through. You may be surprised how expensive it will get to be, especially if you plan on using color inserts. Home inkjet printers go through a sh1tload of ink VERY QUICKLY!! I have an HP myself, and I now realize that HP doesn't make their money off the printers themselves, but off the ink cartridges!!

BTW: If you have NERO burning software, I know that they have CD insert templates and such included in their CD burning software. You can design your own custom layout and everything without having to spend a ton of money on editing programs like Photoshop.

Nice printer - just got one myself. I tried printing of both white printable, and I guess what you'd call "matte" finish printable CD-R...great results on both (the white surface provided for more vidid color though). I printed some jewel case inserts on the Epson too - I was very pleased with the results. Great color and performance from a printer at the price it sells for. Think I've printed on about a dozen CD's thus far - consistent results so far.

Yeah, I think ink will run you roughly $11+ each for the colors (5 of them) and $14+ for the black cart. To bad no cartridges...I got mine from Best Buy with carts. included and a $50 Best Buy rebate for $100. Hopefully you can find some inexpensive carts.

Man, that sucks! I don't really "love" Kinkos either, but I've never had a bad experience like you apparently have. For years I used them for band promo stuff and while in college for papers and thesis and never had bad customer service. Well, the only "bad" experience I had with them was that I phoned in an order once and they screwed up the binding on 10 copies of my thesis! However, they appologized and reprinted and rebound 10 more of them (correctly this time) and gave me all 20 of them for the original price. I didn't even have to ask for them, they just said "hey, it was our mistake, sorry." and that was that.

Maybe they're nicer out here in Minneapolis or something?

A lot of the online CD Replication places have downloadable templates for various programs on thier websites. They typically want you to use them only if you are going to go with their co. for the printing, but....you know...

I'll probably get flamed for "pirating" CD templates. uh oh...

do they make their templates huge so that i can make my cover then send it in and then they shrink it .. or what i am am completely confused???

I GOT THE R-220!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't panic!

They are not too big to print on a piece of paper... assuming you are opening them up in a program like Photoshop or Illustrator to view them. You've got to understand that these templates are designed to be viewed at 300dpi (dots per inch). If you tried opening them up in some program that is not designed to handle high-resolution graphics (like maybe you just opened it up in Internet Explorer or something), then it is probably showing you the template at only 72dpi... which makes the template look roughly 4x as big as it really is meant to be.
