How to get tom mount hardware??

I have an ancient set of Sonors (I'm pretty sure they're from the early '60s), and they have a super-cheesy tom mounting system. You have to adjust the mounts on the toms themselves with a drumkey, and they're connected to the bass drum with a pair of rods (connected together) sticking up that you have to tighten with a wrench and which stay in place only as long as you don't play the toms. So I'd like to upgrade. Trouble is, I'm having trouble finding all of the parts I need online. I've found some Yamaha YESS tom arms and mounts that look pretty nice, but I can't for the life of me find the bracket that fits on the bass drum (well, there are one or two on ebay). Or I suppose I could shell out the big bucks for one of those Ludwig heavy-duty deals. Where would you people go for this?
 
I have a number of vintage drums. I use RIMS mounts on all of them. This way I get the best sound out of the drum. No more mounting hardware on the bass. I then mount the drum to a stand or a rack. Now you can use any tom mount system you like. Also you can switch the RIMS mount to any same size drum you have as easy as changing a head. I also use Gibaralter hardware just because it works fine, easy to get, and they do make hardware for most drum companies anyway.

Thanks zbert, I'll check that out. I have a friend who uses RIMS on his primary kit, though he still keeps them mounted to his kick (he's got a '70s Ludwig with a 24" kick and a serious mount on it, so it'd be almost a shame not to use it).
 
After checking it out, I don't think RIMS are the answer for me. After spending the money on the RIMS themselves, I'd still need to buy a stand and then upgrade the mounts on the toms themselves, because as they are they're just no good. I've found what I need on Yamaha's website, I just can't find anywhere that actually sells it. Maybe I need to get in touch with them personally.
 
Well, never mind. I just found what I need on eBay. I hope I get it; I just can't take my drums the way they are. I figured out what the term is for what I have: rail mount! They should call it the suck mount, because it sucks.
 
I don't know if I'd go and alter a set of vintage drums like that (sounds like you'd need to do some modifying). Those Pearl ISS tom mounts are only like $15 and the Pearl tom holders can be had for around $20. You do need to do something though. A friend of mine has an old Sonar set with the same mounting system you've described, and it's basically worthless - he's since upgraded to a Pearl ICON rack.
 
I'm not that worried about altering it. I doubt I'd get much money out of it if I ever decided to sell it, which I doubt I'd ever do. The only altering I'm going to need to do, I think, is to cut a hole in the kick for the 3/4" pipe and to drill the holes for the bracket. I'm a lot more interested in getting it usable to play than I am in holding on to some resale value that it may not have anyway.
