Anybody in here know how to get a deeper voice?

I found a review on the internet of a book called develop a deeper voice by Pierre Kirouac and Maxime Bellemare, but it's 20$ and i'm cheap:cool:

Anybody in here know of any exercices on how to get a deeper voice?? Thanks :D

Unfortunately, no.

Most people I've talked with, including my vocal teacher, says that was practice, you can increase your higher range by quite a bit, but your lower range just slightly, by maybe a few notes.

Unless you mean deeper tonally, rather than pitch.

you can deepen your voice by breathing from your core (you know youre breathing from the core when your stomach is moving and not your chest.) and you can open your throat (you know youre doing this by saying ah or putting your tongue on your bottom front teeth.) you should also sing with a relaxed lower jaw!

I so want to say to go through puberty, or use a pitch shifter. But I wont. :)

Sorry, I just had to.

I looked at this thread when I saw your post, just to see what your comment would be.

When I practice / perform a song, I always note the things I cannot change and work the things I CAN change to fit - i.e. I can't sing as high as Bryan Adams but I CAN play Summer of 69 transposed down a few so the highest bit is just within my range.

So if it works with the song you could try that.

Where this won't help you is if you're looking for that ultimate Johnny Cash - gruff, bassy sound but you can't get down there, no amount of practice will help you, and tuning it up will ruin the ambienté of songs like that.

But to answer your question, no, you can't really expand your range downwards.

From what I understand, lowering your larynx can make your voice sound deeper. To test this, sing a high pitch (maybe even in head voice for dramatic effect), then lower your larynx as if you were yawning, and sing the same note--it should sound deeper. However, you shouldn't artificially depress your larynx as you sing because it will produce strain and damage your voice.

If you are just learning to sing, it's possible that you naturally raise your larynx to sing higher pitches, in which case you want to train yourself not to do this (by relaxing your tongue/throat muscles as you sing). Keeping your larynx neutral can help produce a fuller tone when you sing high notes. If you're a guy, this means keeping your adam's apple in one place, rather than moving up and down as you change pitch--easy to check in the mirror.

Otherwise, the only way to naturally deepen your voice is to grow older.

Edit: I'm assuming that by "deeper" you mean deeper tone-wise, rather than pitch-wise.

I'm in total agreement with everything superelixir has said, in my experience of vocal training the lower part of one's voice is developed by control of the larynx. I would also add, that it is possible to do this by gradually visiting the lower notes in your range (a piano helps) and doing scales in reverse. Control of the diaphragm is also key, as to sing lower notes (which are not comfortably in your range) to a good standard you will have to develop a breathing technique and method of holding such notes primarily with your diaphragm.

Well, when you turn 60 everything will drop on it's own, so you won't have to work at it. Just look in your pants and you'll know.

But other than that, one thing I used to do was go to a ballgame the day before I had to sing and yell my head off. I mean really yell at every play and call, LOUD! Or when you're in your car, pick a relatively low note and sing it strong and loud (roll up the windows first). Do this every day.

At first you'll choke on the note because you're not used to it, but do it every day for a few weeks and you'll see power coming to your lower register. Vocal chords are like any other muscle, you need to work them and train them and they'll do what you want.

no idea about it but would soon make u come to a good conclusion of it
