Is there a "best" way to cut seamless loops from other recordings etc.. I use Vegas Pro, load the .wav file, put the transport in loop mode, and then change the selection until it sounds right. There must be a better way.

thanks

Hello. Lorddiagram.

I would like to try to answer your question, but I need you to expound on what you are doing to "change your selection".

SPIN

change selection..

by change selection i mean to change the length and posistion of what i have highlighted. (You know how when you drag your cursor over a certain part it is "selected") And whatever is highlighted or selected will loop itself when the transport is in "transport loop mode"

thanks

Hello, Lorddiagram.

That is the easiest way to grab a seamless sample.

Highlight, Loop, Fine Tune, then Cut.

:)

or open it in Soundforge, zoom in and find the start of the beat and the end of the phrase and copy it out and repaste. Then put it in beat calc to make sure it comes out at the right tempo, if not retime using stretch/expand.

cheers

That's what I meant to say.

John said it so much better. :)

I was assuming that you were exporting the wave to SOUND FORGE.

Peace

No, I haven't tried it, but I would like to check it out.

or at your local guitar center, i just tried it myself. it works great. you can use it with an external sampler, or just load in the wav. file hit the split button and it will automatically splice it into different files seperating each individual drum. makes editing a breeze...

I record a lot of my own loops in Acid. I do like everyone said and edit in Sound Forge. To really make it seamless, once in Sound Forge, zoom in to the start and finish and trim each end to where the wav is at 0db. You can also use the pencil tool to draw it in. Experiment, and you will find a point where it just loops seamlessly. :)
