EDIT: Ignore this post, I think I just figured it out, like a divine beam of inspiration lol

Hey everyone. Complete noob here to recording. Over the last day or two I've been experimenting with recording myself on vocals and guitar using Cubase LE5 with an Alesis iO2 Express interface (took me a while to tune down from busking volume to microphone right in front of me volume lol) and have managed to wrestle out a couple of tracks that I think sound alright but I would really like to add some drums.
Unfortunately I don't know how to play drums, or anyone who does, so I was hoping to use some kind of program to do so. Can anyone point me in the direction of the easiest (free) way to get some basic drum tracks into a song? I tried downloading a program called Hydrogen, and was fairly happy with how composing a drum track worked on it, but have no idea how to integrate this with the guitar and vocal tracks I have on cubase. Any advice appreciated.

Since Hydrogen is a separate software then you'll need to export each individual drum sound from the Hydrogen drum machine then import them on Cubase and make sure you use the same tempo/bpm on both software.

Hope that helps.

I'm sure there is a drum synth in LE5?

Ah! No, there isn't. I was thinking of my old Essential 4. There is a General MIDI drum map using Windows Wave Synth. Probably sound pretty dire but at least you should be able to write the data.

There are lots of free drum programs about but a good cheap one we have is BFD Eco.

Dave.

I am quite sure HalionOne comes with Cubase LE5. There are basic drums there.
