Hi there!

Does anyone know how to get that aged plastic look?

It's for my telecaster... I guess it would look nice...

Thanks in advance,
Pedro

The best I can do is refer you to four sources for more information.

1. Stewart-Macdonald
2. Guild of American Luthiers
3. Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans
4. Musical Instrument Makers Forum

Each of these is accessible by doing a Google search. The subject of aging guitars, restoration / repair of aged instruments, and so forth has a fair amount of literature going. It's a complicated process.

Jeech.

You take a pick guard. You throw it on the floor. You jump up and down on it. You take some sand paper and scrape it up some. Then you spit on it and wash it with salt water.

do you own a smoker(bbq)?placing it on that for a couple of hours could help give it that "been played in dives for the last 25"look.ymmv

I believe ultraviolet light is the cuprit in changing/fading the color of plastic - leave it out in the sun for a couple weeks

soak it in bong water for a day or two, it`ll put some funk there that`ll stay with you..

Buy about 15 cartons of cigs..smoke each and every cig and blow smoke on it everytime u inhale.

The best way I know to age a pick guard that I know will give you the exact results you desire is to give me your guitar for 20 years. During this time your guitar will be well cared for, while at the same time being subjected to carefully chosen amounts of age.

Ant the best part is…. I'll pay you!!

Yes I'll pay you $100.00 for the privilege of aging your guitar over the next 20 years! Why would I do such a thing? It's because I know that once you let me age one of your guitars, You'll come back to me for all of your guitar aging needs!!

Think about it;)

Actually I think a heavey, automotive rubbing compound would help. I you get the right stuff it would give it millions of those micro fine scratches.

Time is not only nature's way of keeping everything from happening at once, but it'll also age your pickguard.
