I just noticed today, looking at the box for my cubasis program, that it actually supports up to 48 audio channels. On my computer, I have been stuck with only 8. I am wondering if there is anyway to add more channels on this computer, or what it is that limits the number of channels avaliable. I plan on getting a new computer soon so I am wondering what I should do if I want to use all 48 audio channels.

Thanks.

The amount of audio channels a pc can use is in theory infinite. What you are looking at on your box is the maximum your version of cubase will let you play with. 48 channels is a fair amount and if you were ever to need more you could easily bounce together similar tracks or bite the bullet and buy a version of cubase with more channels available.

If you are planning on using more a nice hammer fall soundcard and plenty of cpu and ram go’s without saying :D

I agree, 48 is a lot, but right now I can only use 8 for some reason, at least that is how many appear. How do I set my computer or cubase to use more?

ah I see, I use cubase SX but I am sure the process will be the same. Right click under your audio track and select “Add audio track” that should be all there is to it.

Not 100% sure if I am answering your question correctly but I think this may be what you’re asking.

Thanks a lot. That was what I wanted to do.

I feel kind of stupid now, using cubase so much and never figuring that out.
