Just ordered a Penium D 3.2 (gonna upgrade to core duo 2 within a year, socket 75 compatible baby!) with 2 gig of 533mhz ram. Gonna move to 4 gig of 667mhx ram within 6 months.

Just ordered a Core 2 Duo with 2GB ram. my mb is upgradabe to 8gb, but i dont think ill need all that....who knows though????

486DX2 overclocked to 14GHz, with 4.2 terajunks of RAM... in RAID.

okee dokee now we all know how much ram you have in your systems so now it's time for the $20,000.98 question: How much of this ram does your system actually use? Damn, I guess quite of few of you spent unecessary money but it sure looks good as a message board statistic!

Well I can regularly use upwards of a gig of RAM when running a photoshop document. Now combine that with teh fact that I will normally have two or three applications going at once, including a web browser and Audition (because I like to keep occupied) and you get the point as to why I need so much. Nice try at the insult though, I'm sure some of your middle school buddies would be proud. ;)

Isn't this a recording forum? I'm talking about recording rigs, not home systems running photoshop while multiple programs and browsers are running. Photoshop is a notorius ram user but again I'm talking about recording. A lot of plugs might chew up ram but then again I did say "quite of few of you spent unecessary money". A few does not mean all, I'm sure some folks (but not most) are using most of their large amounts of ram. Let me check my current project right now: 40 tracks, using 56 megs of RAM. The operating System and my audio app are not using another 1.5 gigs.

hh, but your precise question was, "how much of this ram does your system actually use. You did not specify the question as, "how much ram does your recording system actually use. I understand what you meant, but what you said and what you meant to say are not the same. It's being a nit-picky douchebag for sure, but intent and application need to be married to convey a message.

By the way, I'm just being an asshole because I can. No harm meant.

I'm always doing MULTIPLE things at once. I couldn't tell you exactly how much RAM I use, but I'm sure it's a decent amount.

there have been times where I've had video editing software open(HUGE AMOUNTS OF RAM), recording software open, multiple IE windows open, and various other things at the same time.

I like to have everything at my fingertips...
