Analogue Enthusiast
Hi (again) ;) ,

I asked about this in another thread but either had no responses, no follow throughs or the result was less than satisfactory. (Yes, I'm quite "anal" about my sounds ;) ). Anyway, how much would I have to pay someone, preferably a long time resident here, to make an INSTRUMENTAL backing track ("cover") of some later 70's Elvis songs for me, much like A Reel Person (Dave) does on his 388, 34 or whatever .. ? The project would entail about 3 or 4 instruments (no backing vocals) and would require using real instruments, recording to Analog (of course) and getting that "live", "unsweetened", "dynamic" and completely unprocessed sound, kinda like a rehearsal in your buddy's living room, mistakes and all ... No punch ins, just natural vibe ... Perhaps you'd lower the key a bit etc ... Have you ever heard some tunes of A Reel Person done on his 388 ? Well, that's what I would like. Natural and alive and not "sterile" sounding. Anyway, please let me know how much you'd be willing to do this for. Now, as long as you can encode an mp3 (320 bit) of the final song and email it to me or some other way then that's great! I will pay and you of course get to keep the tape ;) . Perhaps I'd get to have a copy of the tape too ?? .. :) . I'd really want to do this. Please help me out. Just send me a PM if you're interested. Again, I'd really want to deal with the regulars here on this board so that I don't get "taken" for my money and that I know I'm dealing with someone who knows their stuff! ;)

Thanks,

Daniel

Track Rat can do it, if anyone can, & he'll get you there in style!!

Thanx so much for giving my stuff a plug, as your 'want-to-be-like-' example!

Always, really appreciated!! ;)

WOW!!!! I'm .... speechless .... Thanks sooo very much!! :)

Ok, now that I got myself under control ;) , I'll post a tune or two shortly, in mp3, so that you can listen for yourself what I wish to have done.

Many thank again!

Daniel

Hi Mike,

Well, finally got to rip a couple of tunes, in mp3, that I wanted to do from the very beginning. There are 2. The first one can be downloaded here:

Is it so strange

Note: This one's not from the 70's as I said in my opening post :o but from the 50's. Totally forgot about that one till I got to review the tracks. Anyway, I think it's an electric guitar and piano piece ... but besides the backing voices (to be excluded on both tunes of course) I'm not sure what's also there. If it's just electric guitar and piano then please pan each one far right and left so that I can mix and play with it later. What I really like, besides the piano of course, is the nice dynamic distorted character of the guitar. I believe it's in key of Bb. Not sure tho. I'll let you do your magic. ;)

The second track is an oldie, from the late 70's and it's Elvis's vers of Danny Boy. It's just piano in key of C I think. Can be downloaded here:

Danny Boy

Thank YOU very much again for doing this and If I may call on you in the future for an additional tune or two then I'd be grateful ... Not in the immediate future tho .. ;) I will have my work cut out for me putting a vocal to the above and that shall take some time etc ...... I'll be sure to post the finished product here with the appropriate credits to YOU!!

If you require any additional info on the tracks or anything at all related then please let me know.

Bye for now,

Daniel

I'll download these tonight when I get back to the ranch and let you know what's going on.

Alright, thanks! :)

Hi again Mike,

I dug up several seconds of a nice longer ending for this song, that the first vers lacked. He goes into falsetto and the note is held much longer with a longer and nicer piano finish. Take a listen:

Danny Boy (extended ending)

Btw, I'm sure you know this already from my previous post but the less "studio" the songs sound, the better, if you know what I mean .. ;)

Daniel :)

Hi again Mike,

Did you have a chance to download the 3 tracks (one with the extended ending) ? I ask 'cause I need to delete the storage for my FTP provider to make room for some other files my father wants to send to his brother. Please let me know Thanks.

Daniel :)

Sorry about the time delay. I got all three tunes. I'll be out of town this weekend but I'll get on this when I get back.
