Two electrics and two acoustics and a bass. Added an acoustic to the collection today. I tend to go for weird models or brands...like I have a Jazzmaster and Gretsch Duo Jet as my primary electrics, and a Guild Dv-52 as my acoustic (just bought this today to replace a really old Yahama...that Yahama sounds great but is a BEAST to play, and I want to save my hands). For whatever reason I'm not really a fan of traditional brands...maybe it's money. You can get more bang for the buck going to a less popular brand/model.

Miroslav, are you a billionaire or something? Can you write me into your will? I will take great care of those!

Thanks. I'm not sure what would be better. I tried out Martin HD-28s before this buy, along with a bunch of other high end models. I'm like the Warren Buffet of guitars -- value buyer.

Gretsch Duo Jets are SO underrated, if you get a good one. Some can have major neck problems (I think it's that they come from Japan/totally different climate, or maybe improperly aged wood). My duo jet took 3 tries to get an ace specimen, and the final one was actually setup and inspected by Joe Carducci (a legend) himself at Gretsch headquarters. It's a great guitar and probably really rare in that JC did this work on it. They sound like Teles mixed with p90s...love the dynasonic pickup.

Ya, I recommended you look at Guild.. But, it might be a matter of there being a good specimen in the guitar shop at the time.

I have a poor-boy gretsch from fender/guild/deArmond = the M-75 with Goldtones. I already have p-90s so I wanted to try the odd humbucker. I think I'm up to 10, or, 11 including three in storage

Ovation 12 string balladeer (love this one always in tune and for a 12 string easy to play)
Takamine G series (didn't pay much for it but a nice acoustic, replaced pick up with a fishman)
Ibanez blonde (great elect guitar with some serious deep tones I can't get with my fender)
Fender strat deluxe (this one has a great look maple fret board and blue body but I always seem to go back to my Ibanez)
Martin DC Aura-Martin custom shop special edition series (this one will be buried with me when I go.....enough said)
Electa (its in really bad shape I loaned out to a friend got it back thrashed, was a nice sounding guitar. someday will referb it)

In recent years I had acquired what I consider to be the 'core' guitars with a never ending rotation of 'that looks interesting' guitars . This last year I sold off ALL of the rotational guitars and now I assemble things I want to try while keeping the 'core' intact. All of the electrics I have now are Fender and Gibson. I really DO miss the early Japanese built Gretsch Silver Jet I had for a couple of years, but it was only getting studio use and not that much so I sold it to someone who craved it.

are we only counting whole guitars? Or do bodies and necks count as a guitar. Currently 3 guitars, one body and ... *counting* 5 necks of which only 2 are any good.

I used to have a rotating mass of anywhere from 11-15 when I was a free lance gear whore living in sin and debilitating debt. And at one point I had more amps than I had guitars. Ah, the halcyon days of yore. *sniffle*

That's not true at all.

Some have a 7.25 radius that's great for chords, and others have a 12" radius and taller frets that's great for leads. It really depends on needs and what you play.

Yeah, you can do both on one guitar, but it won't be ideal or fun. E.g. Bending on a 7.25 with vintage frets is not as nice as on a 9.5 with 6105 frets.

Then of course there are the pickup/tonal differences.

Anyway, I have 2 electrics and 2 acoustics, but I need to add a smaller body acoustic as a blues box.
