So what brand was it?

And how much did the paint job cost?

And if you ever get ready to sell 'Roxanne', let me know. Very cool.

You certainly have an eye for beauty. ;)

You better be willing to pony up at least 50k or so. You may want to rethink buying Roxanne

I think I paid 100-200 to have Callie painted. It looks really cool under stage lights, because it changes colors.

I've got 7 (gave my first love [hohner steinberger clone] to my little brother):

A banjo (handed down from my pops 20 years ago)
12-string Yamaha acoustic (thanks again pops)
6-string Yamaha acoustic (drednaught style)
6-string Yamaha classical (with electronics... dumbest of the bunch)
Fender American Strat (with roland gk3 midi pickup... my $ maker)
Conklin Groove Tools 5-string bass (studio $ maker, only played live once, I dropped the low B on 'em and they couldn't tell that I sucked!)
Gibson Les Paul Studio

The Paul just arrived off ebay yesterday. I bought new toggles, volume buttons, pickup mounting rings, and a gk3 midi pickup for it.

Oh and 2 amps:
fender hotrod deville 2x12 (tube)
fender rocpro70 (solid state)

I'm thinking about selling the hotrod and using the money to get Samplitude Master v9.

Although I'll tell buddies/co-workers about my small "amp farm," it's really more like an "amp patch," as I can honestly count on one hand the number of amps I own. That'll change, eventually, but I don't see myself collecting all that many amps. So far, I'm all solid state, but since I'm looking to do quite a bit of surf guitar stuff, I'll be looking to go with a tube amp, or two, in the coming future.

Matt in Indiana

Most of my amps are tube amps. I have a couple of hybrids.

I don't know who made it originally. It was a luther in the hills of West Virginia some where. It was about 30 years old when I got it.

Roxanne was made for me by Gibson a few year back.

Now you do need drums after you pass 15

...or eight. I had a drum set before I had my first guitar (an old Silvertone, wish it was in working condition still...).

I can't believe there are almost 70 reviews for the Hello Kitty.. Is that really needed, I think 1 review would cover it...

My review: Looks cool for little girls and girly girls and girly guys. With new electronics it might sound okay. Feels like shit. -Zac

I played a couple at GC, the ones that looked more like regular guitars (my security in my manhood only goes so far) and I kinda liked them. They were extremely cheaply made, but to me they felt just like the Dano reissues of a few years back. So cheap they had that old Silvertone vibe to them. And I really thought the 12 string was kind of cool.

Would that be the Bullet type? I own a Bullet special, trashed now.... Oh, those Dano reissues! I love them! My second guitar was a U-1 reissue... I sold it for $20 a few years ago, though, because it got a big hole busted in the top at some point....

It's interesting what a large response any "how many guitars" thread generates.

I would think I would "need" 3 guitars - an electric 6 string (probably a Tele), an accoustic 6 string (probably a Martin) and a 4 string electric bass (probably a Fender Jazz bass) - this could cover any gig and almost any recording need.

Now, it would be nice to also have a 12 string accoustic (maybe a Guild), a semi hollow electric (a 335) and an electric with humbuckers (maybe a Les Paul) - but those would be wants - not needs.

I currently have 7 electrics (some single coil, some humbuckers and a semi-hollow), 6 accoustics (which includes a resonator and a 12 string) and 3 bases (which is really overkill) - and I'm planning on getting a Variaxe fill in some "gaps" - but I don't "need" most of them!!!

For others who have collections of more than a few axes - how often do you changes strings? I have a couple of guitars I use all the time (a Tele and an SG) which I change strings on fairly often - but because I have so many guitars, I try to keep strings on for at least 3-6 months - I know that's too long - but the cost and time to keep changing strings is waaaaay out of hand.

I used to change strings every week. Then I ran out of money. Now I keep them on until the next gig, and gigs are infrequent at the moment. Every three months or so.

Wow, you mean you can change strings? I would just buy a new axe. You get new strings with it, and that takes care of the issue of old strings.

strings ??

thats the expensive way to change strings.......... but i love the way you think

I finally sold off about 20 guitars last year to get down to around 20 or so. It's complicated because I also do pedal steels, banjos, mandolins, fiddles, keyboards, bass, and drums. I got on a USA Hamer kick and have gotten a very nice selection of these. My favorite electric I own is a 2005 Monaco Elite. A close second is my 25th anny Hamer Studio. I actually sold off all my Gibbys except one because I like the Hamers so much. I kept a LP Smartwood because it's just a cool guitar. I like Martins a lot and use my D35 extensively.
I sold off one set of drums and kept my Yamaha Maple Absolutes. I'm down to one banjo, a mid seventies "silverbelle". Keyboards? jeez... all over the place, synth modules, controller... oh yeah, my new deal "soft synths"....

How many guitars do I need? Awww silly wabbit.. Just one more... ;)

Strings

I just buy bulk strings, usually ten packs. If there's a sale on you can get a ten pack of electric D'Adario's for $25-30.Once or twice a year I buy all my strings at once from MF and between not paying for taxes or gas the shipping charges are more than covered.

Whenever I order from any music store online I usually get a couple packs of Boomer 9s, and a pack or two of D'Addario acoustics. But I've also got bulk packs of Rogue 9s -- just the high E -- since I tend to break them more often than the rest of the strings.

Just on the side, while we are talking strings. My double neck is the biggest pain to change. With the 2 nnecks, you can't get on the tuner with a winder. So you have to hand wind 1/2 the strings (9 total). It really sucks.

I'll bet it does. I hate changing strings. Right up there with doing the dishes. But the next time the strings go dead on the doubleneck, just buy a new one and send the old one to me. And while you're at it, just throw Roxanne and Callie in with it. :D

I can't get over how much I love Callie. I can't exactly figure out what it is, but that thing just really floats my boat.

Oh, yeah, and don't forget to include a stand. ;)
