Yep, the stand is missing....I know

That Samick plays real well. I feed it through the Marshall and get that Ted Nugent, wild man, feedback thing going. I also use it with the accoustic amp and has a very mellow sound to it. It's a cool axe overall.

like a quality instrument? Fit & finish, good materials?

Yea, it's worth looking at. I was just looking for something along the lines of my Gibson 150DC (Judy) with a Bigsby trem on it.
 
The reason I asked

is that I thought Samick made the Ibanez Artcore series (hollow & semi-hollow) which a lot of people really seem to like, but they feel like cheap junk to me, and I'm no guitar snob by any stretch. I've gotten ahold of a few Samicks (mostly Greg Bennetts) and they seemed pretty decent to me, but I've never had the opportunity to check out a hollow or semi. I guess considering the quality of your stable (or harem, I should say) the fact that you've still got it says something for it.

Now, work on that stand thing... :D

Yes they are! I am really disappointed. I went back to look at it and it didn't have the case (1st bummer for a guitar that is at least an inch wider than a strat). Also, though it had original pickups, the thing had been rewired and the cool electronics undone. The switches were replaced and probably the pots. I don't knwo if their gradual blend from single to dual requires a different pot, but I bet a quarter that this guitar didn't have the right ones. The neck/pocket joint had alot of shadow going back into it like a kentuckey coal mine.

I was also surprised how cheap and shitty the small body ones feel. Mine is too heavy to play pretty much, but it doesn't feel cheap. This one was alot lighter, but the body was also thinner.

Chip Todd has a shop in texas and they take these 12 pounders and hollow them out. It's pretty cool what he does. He also doesn't really have the luthier mentality, but more of the machine shop/gunsmith attitude. I was thinking of getting the hollowing out thing done to mine, but I haven't come to appreciate the electronic sound of it enough to justify it.

I also tune the high E down to D and also the A down to G for a G tuning. I seem to find that tuning down keeps the guitar more stable tuning wise than tuning strings up. As far as the low E-I ignor it, I use it to reference the A string when I tune it back to standard tuning.
I then have the D, G, and B strings still in standard so I can still play licks on them as well, and can play triads on them if needed.

Right now, my collection stands at 9 guitars and 3 basses, so I guess I'd say I need 12. As soon as I get a chance, I'll be adding a Fender Standard Strat HH to my collection, to be converted to single coils and hardware upgraded for surf guitar, so once I get that, then I'll be able to say "I need 13 guitars." I consider my playing as "creating soundscapes," so in that my guitar playing can be broken down into five parts - 1/5 my playing, 1/5 the guitar, 1/5 the amp, 1/5 effects. Granted this is with my electrics. With my acoustics, it's more about that I can manage to play some stuff (never mind that I typically play Barre chords) than "if ya can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with BS." Since I do typically only use Barre chords, I do a lot more finger pickin' on my acoustics, using my thumb for bass lines on the 2 lower strings.

Can't say I know how many more guitars I'll collect, over the next year or two, but I still maintain that "that's how many I need." ;)

When I got to 12 a while ago, I bought a pair of strats so I didn't have to deal with unlucky 13.

Now you do need drums after you pass 15

I can't see how you would ever really need more then that. I could see why you would want more, but if you seriously can't make a close imitation with those combinations for the style you're going for then perhaps music isn't for you.

I've got an electronic drum kit on my "to buy list" (a.k.a. Musician's Friend Wish List). I do tell people that "I suck at drums," but that's only 'cause I've never had any kind of a kit to start from. Give me two #2 pencils, and anything BUT a drum kit, and I can beat out some awesome rhythms...so it's in there...just needs drawn out. For now, I can call myself a percussionist, since I do play bass. Maybe I should start small, like with a set of bongos?

I think it's funny when sucky guitar players have like 20 guitars. Like that makes the any better. :rolleyes:
 
I have about a dozen in total, with two basses and one or two acoustics. Then it's all rare and quirky stuff ... the only 'standard' guitar I have is a Mexican Fat Strat and I don't like it much.

- Burns Marquee
- Westone Prestige 150
- The Noisedudecaster ... a Squier which was relic'd and rebuilt and is now superb
- My Les Paul copy which is my main gigging guitar now, decent pickups and built like a tank
- Random Tele copy that is just superb

These guitars are not replaceable, however, I do in fact need more. I'm always looking for random Fenders I can sell on or fiddle with. I need a Tele with a hot rail in the bridge. And a basswood Ibanez type with a stop tail. Why? Err .......

I'm not a shit hot player but I play my music better than anyone. I'm not sure Billy Joe Armstrong goes into a guitar shop and gets laughed out of the vintage Gibson section just because he can only play power chords ... and if he does, the joke's on them cos he's minted!
