Old Version

I recorded some vocals for this today and I want to know how you think it's coming. I shared this song before but it didn't have vocals at the time. All, if not, most of the vocals have been recorded. There's a breakdown towards the end of the song and I can't think of anything to do there vocally. Or should I leave it alone? Just looking for some honest feedback. Thanks.

I can't honestly say I was listening too critically (sorry, I'm multi tasking), but it sounded pretty solid on a first time through.

So, since no one has replied, I'm assuming no one has listened. But, that's ok. I understand. You got shit to do. So do I. So, I threw a newer version up there that has been tweaked a bit. The vocals have been re-EQed, and I added some spoken dialogue in the breakdown part. Please give it a listen. Compare the two if you'd like. Like I said before, all feedback is welcome. Thanks for listening.

Sorry, Steve... I didn't see that you posted. My bad.

I'd like to hear the vocals come way out front on the chorus. Other than that, it sounds pretty good.

Mix is pretty solid. Vocal volume could come down in spots (automation) and the drums (snare) are a bit too dry IMO. All-n-all good tune done pretty well.

Hey, thanks for listening and commenting. I agree about the drums being dry. I'll see if I can add some 'verb and make them a bit more juicy. I'm pretty cautious about messing with the vocals... Especially when I have people telling me two different things. I don't want to boost them and overpower other parts of the song. And I don't want to bring them down and have them buried in the mix...

If I was better at mixing, this would probably be a no brainer... But, I'm still learning as I go. You'd think that after 12 years of doing this stuff on all sorts of mediums, I would have figured this out by now...

I did some adjustments and came up with a final master that I'm very happy with. I boosted the vocals in places and brought them down a bit in others. I feel that I have a better balance of everything now and I hope you agree. The new version is up on the original post. Thanks for listening.

Really cool. Great song, sryle and execution. My question is, is this a non-human drummer? Or electric drums played by a human? My only comment might be that when you mastered it, it may be a little overcompressed/loud. Only reason I say it, is the song lacks some dynamics throughout. Although that might be what you're striving for. The solid block thing a lot of mainstream rock/metal engineers are doing these days. Or maybe it's the record company, lol.

Sadly, it is not a human drummer. I wish I had a drummer that could play that well. And I did master it like that on purpose... But, I may be rethinking that decision. I agree about the dynamics. I would like to have a better dynamic sound t the mix but I feel that if I did that, I'd lose some power... Maybe I'll cut back on the limiting and see what I can come up with. Thanks for listening.

Just thought I'd let you all know that this song has made the Frontpage on Reddit! That's pretty awesome!

sounds like some wresting music like somebodies entrance music
