O.K.

I cut all my audio files down to a a specific MBT. Yet, the meter keeps running beyond the cut off point. How do I set Sonar's meter to stop running at the cut off point I select?

Are you playing back or recording?! The meter, if recording, will continue forever until you're done recording; if playing back it'll go as far as the last track goes.

Have you any realtime effects on the tracks? Or have you selected "Play audio-tales after stop" in Options -> Audio?

This is only for playback.....It does'nt stop at the end of the tracks. All the tracks stop at a particuler point. But the meter goes on for another minute or more before stopping.

Moskus...I have 'fX' effects, Dbx, Antares, is this what you mean by real time effects? ( I checked what you wrote about on the options/audio menu....it is not selected).

I select a point in the dead space of the tracks after the audio is finished if there` no more audio to come, and "edit> cut" it there. Sonar does not know if there is more audio to come on the track or not so it keeps running. I usually cut the dead space off in Sound Forge. If this is what your talking about...

Do you have any envelopes on your tracks? Look to see where the last node is located. If it extends past the end of the music, place a node where the music ends and delete the other one.

If you have any tracks that are Hidden, Sonar keeps playing to the end of those even though you can't see them. I've had instances where Sonar would even continue to the end or Archived tracks.
Press "M" to see a list of all tracks, hidden, archived, or otherwise.
If this isn't the answer, the fact remains that there is some kind of renegade data that exists past your intentional tracks, and Sonar keeps playing until it's done. Find the data (envelopes? automation? effects tails? ) and erase it.

Sorry guys,

I don't know what a node is. I press 'M' and all I get is the track manager. I click 'show all envelopes' and nothing happens.

How can one erase? Can you guys school me?

"M' is supposed to call up the Track Manager. Do any of the tracks have an unchecked checkbox next to them? If so, they would be "hidden" tracks. Check them off and see if maybe they extend past the end of your song.

A node is a point on an envelope. Are you using any envelopes? If not, you don't need to worry about nodes.

As Aaaron stated, you probably have *some* type of data extending past the end of your song. The trick is to fgure out what it is.

The other thing you could try is to go to the end of the song. Left click and hold on the time ruler and drag it to the right until you reach the end of the track. Release the mouse button and make sure ALL the tracks are highlighted over the area you just traced (but also make sure NONE of your actual music is highlighted). The go to Edit > Delete (make sure the delete hole checkbox is checked) and OK.

See if that does it for you.

Bingo!

Found something. No envelopes though. I was able to delete whatever it was. No data just........stuff/whatever. Gone now. Tracks end at were I want them to. (Now if I could only get that position slider to work with minumal audio tracks).
