How do you program a fill into the User bank of an SR-16?

I've successfully copied factory A & B patterns, and their corresponding fills, to the User banks.

Now, I want to program my own patterns with my own fills into a User bank. I can't seem to find any instructions on how to program fills. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Take this with a grain of salt because I don't have the machine in front of me and haven't really used it in awhile, but my memory usually serves me fairly well.

Pick an empty user bank i. e. pattern 01A, then make sure to that you are in the compose mode, if not press the compose/perform button. Once in compose press play and go to town pounding out the beat while it is looping. To do the fill just select a fill pattern like 01Afill, and do the same. You can edit existing patterns by deleting or adding new parts as well.
Setting recording parameters (like quantize and click), and drum parts can be changed either before starting or applied to an already created pattern.
Be careful when copying because if you copy to an existing pattern it will just throw it on the end of the pattern and screw up your loop.

Ok I guess the simple answer is

press the compose/perform button

I've been able to record into the "fill" user bank. I'm still having a problem.

As I understand it, the fill bank is 8 beats long . so, if your fill is only 4 beats long then you have to play your beat into the first 4 beats of the fill bank. otherwise, you'll have a blank dead space for the first 4 beats of the fill.

anyway, my fill doesn't come out sounding how I played it, regardless of how I set the quantize setting (1/4, 1/8. 1/16 beats).

more tips would be appreciated.
