How do you make new takes in Logic?

This could potentially be a quick question to answer, but this has been driving me insane for that past day trying to figure out.

So you know how making a new take in Protools is relatively simple? Right well I am now slowly learning how to use Logic and I cannot figure out how to make a new take. I've searched the internet and help guides but the only answer I can find is that if I start recording over another sound byte it automatically makes a new take for you... but I want to load multiple takes that I've recorded on another DAW and put them on one track in Logic... So how would I do this?

<bump>

This is a good question and I, too, want to know the answer.

Guys,

After one take is complete, you can simply leave that track record-armed and record again. Logic automatically saves the overdub as an alternate take. Once the second (or third, or fourth, etc.) takes are complete, click the arrow in the upper left-hand corner of the region and all of the alternate takes will expand and show as "stacked". From there, you can select which sections to compile.

Yeah, it's pretty simple. Just go back to the beginning and hit record again. Or you can set up a loop if you want to keep re-recording the same section.

And building comps using selected parts of each take is easy.

you can even take parts of different takes and combine them. Use the icon to the upper right hand corner to choose what take to use, then you can use the arrow to the upper left to fold all the takes away (cleans up your workstation). To use different parts of different takes together, I split the take where I want it, and it becomes it's own take. you select each take with as many splits, then just join them all together when you are happy.
Cheers, Tyler

If you want to get tracks from another DAW program into logic, you will need to save them in the proper format for Logic to read, then import them into
logic.

(Replying to a somewhat old thread, sorry. But the OP didn't get an answer and I am killing a bit of time.)

If you want to create takes out of several bits of audio you have already recorded, put the audio files on separate tracks (simply drag them from the audio bin, for instance), select all those tracks and then choose "Pack take folder" from Arrange window > Region menu > Folder. Done.

(If you are recording, Logic will automatically create takes if you have set the preference "Create take folder" in File > Preferences > Recording and record over existing audio.)
