I was just listening to that great album "Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, and Stephen Stills Super Session". It has been a long time since I have heard it. What recording techniques were used to capture that raw, powerful energy. I am just guessing that side one which was just one great jam session with Kooper and Bloomfield was recorded in a big room with the mikes set up and the tape rolling. Side two with Kooper and Stills is just as great. I know the horns were tracked later during mixing. I guess that I could experiment and figure it out. But then I am not sure any of the young musicians these days know how to jam. After all, it is hard to jam and do choreography at the same time.
