im trying to make the end section of a song that i have recorded, slow down so it sounds like you hit the stop button a record player. i am running cubase sx3 and i also have wavelab 5 if that helps. sorry if my explaination is a little hard to understand but that was the best way to explain it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I know this isn't exactly waht you're looking for, but I got about 50 sites like this by Googling "Sound Effects". If you can't get the sound you want from a plug-in or effect, you might want to just find the sound you're looking for and paste it where you want it.

When I got to the sites, I entered "cassette" in their search. Other searches might get you better results.

(Listen to the end of "School's Out" by Alice Cooper. It's got a killer tape slow down effect)
 
thanks for the link. i actually spent most of the day messing around with all of the functions in my programs and i did come across the old pitch bend function, and got it to sound pretty close to what i wanted. thanks for the help though.
 
+1 for tapestop also.

TurnTablist Pro can do it and more, but it's more complicated and very unhandy to use (you pretty much have to automate anything you want to do).
 
You can process the pitch shift with time correction enabled, then open it in the editor (double click) and click the musical note button (Audio Tempo definition tool) Then on the far left (you may to expand the window pretty far to see it), there is another button with a musical note on it (musical mode). Click that.

Then close the editor down, click 'tempo' on the transporter to set it to 'Track' press ctrl+T to open the tempo track. Set Insert Curve in the drop down box at the top to 'Ramp'

Find the bit where it starts. Click the pencil button, draw a dot on the line where it starts. Make sure to click it so its still at the normal tempo. Then goto where it ends, draw a dot, click the arrow on the toolbar (object selection). Drag the dot down to 0bpm. Click the pencil again. Draw another dot at the normal speed, roughly where you want it to speed back up again (assuming that you do). Click the arrow, drag the dot to exactly the right place where you want it. You make have to screw around with to decide whether you want to a jump or a ramp.

Once you've done all this, with the audio event being locked to the tempo of the track, it will slow down with the tempo which may be more useful in some cases, but a complete waste of time in others.
