How do you avoid Basement Moisture

That was my point exactly in my first post above. Condensation problems and water entering the basement are two entirely different problems.

The vapor barrier is just to control condensation if the ambient air temperature reaches the dewpoint. The vapor barrier over the insulated stud walls is very effective. You do not want the room air to have contact with the air on the other side of the wall. This is what will cause the condensation if the dewpoint is reached.

On the other hand a leaky basement is a whole 'nuther ballgame.
And tickets aren't always cheap to this game.

The suggestions for a leaky basement are right on, but in my initial post I was only addressing condensation problems within a finished basement room.
