I'd love to get tones like this but I have no idea what kind of stuff to get

I just love that really warm, chuggy type sound for metal. Gettin sick of fizz

Because I have one and know how it sounds, I now hate you for recommending it to me.

I kid, I could never hate you

I'm thinking along the lines of mesa-boogie or something? Maybe some valve pedals?

Honestly, I have no idea what to be looking for. Hoping some of the gear-heads in here will chime in and help

Something like that... I've been eyeing This for a while now. I just can't justify spending the money without hearing it first.


EDIT: I just noticed there are clips on that page. I had never been to the Damage Control site till now.

Sounds a bit fizzy to me

Maybe it's DI, probably sound nicer through an amp

Hard to say.They could've recorded it with a variety of amps and stacked more than a few guitar tracks to get that tone.I seen them live probably around 5 years ago but i have no clue what their live rigs were.

Who's singing for them now? I seen them when Ripper Owens was with them.You could google their album info.A lot of bands will specify what instruments and amplification they use.

Good point!

Matt Barlow is back singing with them (although this coulda changed again), since Framing Armageddon. I'm delighted, Tim Owens had nothing on him. Great singer and all, but he doesn't look his best going into bands where the previous singer completely outdid him (Iced Earth, Judas Priest etc.)
