How do I get sound through my mixer into my headphones?

What kind of mixer are you talking about? Does it have a jack labelled "headphones"? These sound like silly questions, but there are different mixers out there that may require you to select the tracks you want to hear...

I Have a MG 10/2

and a mic, headphones and a computer. I have my mic hooked up into my mixer as well as my headphones. I would like to be able to hear the music from my computer and record my lyrics on my cool edit program.

You are going to need an interface between the mixer and the pc (some call them soundcards, but they are really an interface), like MAudio or something like that.
For the specifics, I will let someone who records to pc exlplain further. I record to a digital multitracker and transfer the tracks to pc to mix...

Well I do have

M Audio. What would you suggest I do next if you did record to pc? Just curious

Hey Rokket,

What program or software do you use for your mixing of tracks?

On the Yamaha MG series mixers, try running your output sound from the computer into a channel you're not using on the mixer. Then, hit the PFL button. Blammo...headphone sound.

Well there you go...

i can help

just get a regular stero cable (red/white) on one end and a regular stero plug on the otha sideget two of them.

1.) first take one of the cables and put it into the output or tapeout, part on your mixer.you should have that stero plug part which is the little end on some regular cd player headphones.hook that into the line in part at the back of your computer.

2.)secondly, take the second cable and take the stero end , and hook it up to your headphones part on the back of your computer.you should have the red/white part left put that into , the second channel in your mixer, because the first channel should be your mic.

3.)third, hit the record button on your software do some test try rapping,or singing on the mik, see if you can hear yourself at a level you want and or the music at the level you want.if its not turn it up. thats all there is to it.

ps.
if you cant hear the mic or music, go to control panel then go to yor sounds or music tab thing, search around till you get a box with levels you can turn up and down .
make sure the section that says micorphone is not selected at the bottom.
make sure line in, is selected and turned all the way up.

if u have ne more questions hit me up at blackout-pro@sbcglobal.net

ur welcome
