How do I hook my mike up to the joystick port on my compie? I was told this it the best thing you can do for your sound.

Thanks in advance

YO' YOSHI!!!! What is it that you are actually trying to do?

Mic into joystick port????

I think most ppl here hook their mic into a mixer or mic preamp of some kind and then hook the mixer/preamp into the line-in on the soundcard.

They say it's not good to use the mic-in on the soundcard because of low-quality preamps.

There's an article on this site somewhere about microphones. Check it out.

As for the joystick port, I've never heard of that. (and actually, i don't think it's possible)

Good luck

I've heard of getting an adapter to bring MIDI in through the joystick port, but never heard no nuthin' bout no mic.

My sound card has a check box in it's properties that allows itself to map the input through the serial/joystick port, am I just goofy or is this an advantage?I have a sound blaster audioPCI 64d sound card.

Dudeman (or was that his buddy) told me to plug the mic into the line in jack on my digital answerphone, then connect the phone side to the joystick port. Where else can you get converters that cheap?
