In Reaper, how do you play just the part you've selected?

I've tried everything. In Fruity Loops, you just drag out a selection and then the part you've selected plays over and over until you de-select it but I can't work out how to do this in Reaper.

Do you mean:

Recorded Track ** and you want a given part of that track to repeat/playback? I do not mean to sound flippant just asking.

I run accross that issue too.
If I want a section to repeat I hightlight by clicking and dragging along the time/bar line creating a "selection". Reaper will repeat that selected area over and over. I think that there is a "preferences" check box that addresses this. It may be someting called.. Oh hell I can't remember. :) Lemme check a couple of things but I believe that may adddress your issue. Still a newbie with Reaper. and a sloppy typist.

Selected on the time ruler ? Have you tried the loop button on the transport bar ?

Hi! All you need to do is to highlight the section you want to loop by using that white bar at the top of the track screen (drag it across whatever you want to loop). Then copy and paste it to a new track (use the loop copy in the edit menu) and there is your part in a new track for looping. I've done this a lot and it works fine. Maybe you don't want to create an actual independent loop with your recording. If so, this works great. If not, Thurgood and CFox have the answer.

I know I'm bumping an old thread, but this was the first hit on Google when I searched this issue, and I find the answers not as clear or definitive as they could be. I just found the answer myself:

There is a virtual button, next to the virtual play button, that toggles "repeat on/off" and you can also toggle this on/off just by pressing "r". When repeat is toggled on, whatever time selection you have selected (shows in white in the time bar above tracks) will be played on loop. Or, if you have not made such a selection, I'm guessing the whole project would play on repeat, but have not tried that.
