How do I get the Vocals and the beat in my headphones, but only vocals go to the mix?

I have a Behringer UB1202 Mixer, an Audiphile 2496 Soundcard, Headphones and a Rode Nt1a. Ive tried alot of different ways to route the signal but I cant get it where I can hear my vocals AND the instrumental in my headphones but ONLY record the vocals.

To record i gotta only use one earphone so i can hear myself and the instrumental at the same time since i cant hear the vocals in the heaphones.

If anyone knows how to set this up, let me know.

That's kind of tuff with that mixer. A less than perfect way is to drive the input of the recorder from an aux send on the mixer as it has no direct outputs or channel inserts.

so basically theres nothing i can do about this, other than buy a new mixer or do what you suggested? Do i need a 1/4 to double RCA because there is only one f/x send input?

This isn't a bad solution at all, considering the equipment you have. The sound from the Aux send is going to be just as good as from the main outs.

I assume you think you need to record "stereo" vocal tracks, in order to hear the vocal on both sides of the stereo image? This has been covered many times over in lots of other threads, but basically, you don't need to adapt the output to go in to the left and right input of the sound card. You can just take the mono out into one side of the sound card. You make it "stereo" again by how you set the pan in your audio software.

(I realize this is incorrect terminology as far as mono/stereo goes, I just don't want to start that whole debate all over again here. )

for that reason only, i sold my mx602 behringer

and i'm going for the samson MDR6,

I was very pleased with the behringer (had it a year)
but i need the "hard disk" recording feature on the samson
which basicaly let you select what you want to record and what not
