I want to transfer files from dats and masterlink directly to my pc which has an audiophile card using the digital i/o to avoid additional conversions. Im using wavelab as my recording software but for some reason cant get it to work. Could someone tell me exactly how this is done?

you havnt said what you have already tried to accomplish this.

Check input and output sources is the only thing i can think of.

Do you need a specific kind of digital audio cable to do these sort of things (spdif)? Right now im just trying to use a regular rca audio cable that I have.

you should get a coaixial cable with RCA connectors on the ends.

Ive never used spdif so i do not know exactly how it works. Ive only used optical which is pretty simple to use. My guess though is that you need a special cable. It might use more than 2 wires to send the signal.

audacity... do a google, it's free, and works for what it is....
