How can you tell the manufacturing date...

The reel I'm looking at is Quantegy GP9.
It tells you that,and the size and length on the left side of the label.
On the right side of the label,there are 2 rows of numbers:
380400120405
2000073
That's how it looks.
Any ideas?

The number 2000073 is the date code. It was made in 2000. If 10 1/2" there is also a similar label on the back of the metal reel.

If in pancake form the label will be on the tape itself over the hold-down tape.

Here's one (Ampex) that is from 1992:

Just like Tim said, it's from 2000 and, not that it makes any difference, it was made on the 73rd day of that year.
