How can I post mp3 files for you to hear?

i'd like to post a clip of a riff I recording to get opinions on my tone and overall recording quality. How can I do this? Is there a way without having to sign up at myspace or any mp3 music sites?
 
Use lightningmp3.com - free uploads and no registration required. You only need to supply an email address to receive the link to the song once it's uploaded. Hosted by our very own NL5.
 
wow the difference between mp3 and wav quality is unbelievable. Is there something im doing wrong? It sounds like more distant and tinny compared to wav. Should I change the sample rate to higher. I did it in 44.1 and then in stereo.

The bit rate makes a whole diference. If you have your Mp3 file on 320kbs on VBR (wich means Variable Bit Rate) its almost good as wave files
Sofwares like Soundforge can convert a wave file to this kind of Mp3, the difrence here is not so wide :)
 
Obviously, the fact is a VBR file, makes the 320kbs looks bullshit, but its not
The fact is that the file is in 320kbs, but it varies from part from part, juts when the track 'asks' for it, this way assure even more sound quality to an audio file
 
I can't save it in VBR though... I don't have any software but cubase LE. Still, though hhuuggee difference.

Well, i dont use Cubase, and i dont know how are the options to convert an audio file in Cubase, but i am sure someone here could share a light about this

I bought SoundForge i few months ago and that made a whole diference. You can convert an audio file to any format imaginable, change the bit depth and everything
Before using SoundForge, i used to convert my wav files into Mp3 on Fruity Loops. There you can select the bit rate, but you cant make it on VBR or others Mp3 formats, either way, Fruitty did quite a nice job encoding my files

So what i am trying to say is that i think Cubase has a way for you to control the bit rate when you convert to Mp3, it should be a simple task

Maybe some Cubase users might know this :)

The discussion re MP3 qulaity VS almost any other audio format has been dealt with a few times around. Here is a recent skip through:

Ericlungus you're still right the gulf between MP3 & Wave is very wide indedd. Bit rate lessens the gulf but it still a giant leap. Just use MP3's where you have to. The loss of harmonics, sympathetic vibrations etc etc as well as the addition of some aural artifacts when tiny errors occur - I won't go on - read around the forums & remember the aim is the best quality possible & then reduce to the medium required for dissemination.

here is a clip of a riff I did recording direct with my vamp2 into my firebox using cubase LE. I record 4 different guitar parts each copied and pasted to double them(yeah I know I should actually play them again but i'm just messing around really) . Still though even doubling up that way helps a lot. Well what doyou think of the tone and quality and all that?

Take it somewhere - finish it. VERY space rock meets shred guitar without too much tugging.

Hey- just a quick heads up. If you don't use the link from the email, the file will auto-delete after 90 days. Probably doesn't matter in this case anyway though.......
 
what do you mean by that? I clicked the link in the email. Do you mean I always have to whenever I go to it or something? In that case how would others hear it? Btw thanks for the site. Really convenient!

You clicked on the link in the email, then copied and pasted the address from your browser window. Just copy and paste the link from the email. It will work the same - it's a database thing, that allows the site to run as simply as it does. 90 days of inactivity causes a file to be deleted. If you don't use the link that ends in file.php?fid=2806 it doesn't update the database, so it thinks it is not being accessed. If you are only using the link for less than 90 days anyway, then it doesn't really matter....... :)
 
oh okay. Thanks for letting me know. Yeah this time I don't care. But if I have a real song that I posted, i'll keep that in mind.
 
what do you think of the guitar tone? Too thin? What should I change?
