This is the set-up i have: I have a mackie 6 channel mixer that plugs straight into the computer. I plug each mic into the seperate channels and hit record so it records all of the drums at the same time. Is this how it is supposed to be? My problem is that i always read about eq for individual drums, but the way my set-up is i cant change individual drums, only the whole drum track in itself. I think i need to be able to make each drum record seperately, but i dont know how do do that. Can anyone help me?

You'll need an interface with enough inputs - M-Audio's Delta 1010LT is a popular and dreadfully inexpensive PCI interface that comes to mind...

The mixer will need enough direct outs also... For 8 tracks, your going to need 8 mics, 8 preamps (or mixer with equivalent direct outs) 8 inputs on your interface and 8 tracks to go to in your software.
