basically I have a shotgun microphone and a dynamic microphone stuck together. I am trying to listen to a source far away and want to use the dynamc microphone to cancel out local noise. CAn i do this on any programme?

well, first off you should know that a shotgun microphone is not a mic that is typically used to pickup far away sounds. this mic has a very tight polar pattern that is used to pick out sounds easier...but usually for closer sounds. think of a when you roll a newspaper up and look through the center. It blocks out the surrounding images and you can see something that's far away...however, it doesn't make it appear closer. Same thing with a shotgun. What you need to look into is a parabolic microphone.

No. Not enough data for the math.

Are you saying that you've got the shotgun pointed forward (at the sound source) and the dynamic pointed rearward on the same axis?
