I shnizzled the fizzle and sizzled the drizzle.

Actually, I didn't. But I did re-mix a tune that I had posted here a few months ago. I got comments on how much thicker the toms should be in the breaks, and the guitars needing to be beefed up, and a few other good pieces of advice.

So, I did a re-mix. My biggest problem is guitar. I know a good guitar sound when I hear one. Problem is, I don't know a bad guitar sound when I have one. :laughings:

So any help is always appreciated.

Thanx

That's a real old-school guit sound...Sabbath, Heep...1975. It works, but I think it could use a little 'presence'. Marshall has a little dial. Some HF bite...maybe even a little less o'drive....to update it.

Very nice playing. Good tune.

Thanx a lot Jeff.

Cool, I like the Heep reference. And I can add some presence no problem. I actually put one of the guitar tracks through a Marshall impulse response. That was the brighter one. The other guitar went through a Mesa Boogie response and it was a less bright. I can play with their EQ's a bit. Thanx for the help on that.

...just to update it.

But, if it works, I'm not sure if I'm interested in "updating" it. :D

Thinking about it just moments ago, I thought that it sounded like what happens to a signal when the guitar cord is really long, and there's about 10 more feet of it running in a pedalboard...that bite on the top, and clarity in the bottom, is lost. If that's what's goin' on, maybe try the sound with a 6' cord, straight in. I didn't notice any FX. So if y' gots lots of spaghetti, you can lose it. The shorter the cord, the more pristine the signal: the sound jumps to life. Damn resistance.

Mix is pretty good.
Guitars sounds great too...
Not a "must", because mix is fine, but bass frequencies (between 60- 90 hz) could up a bit (most bass guitar IMO, maybe BD too - but just a bit...)

Funky rockin tune Rami - I like the different parts, especially that bridge of guitar riffs....
Seems to be well balanced overall - I can follow all the instruments individually at any time so separation is great.
I'd say mix is complete...:D:):D:)

You musta fixed it. I don't hear anything wrong with your tone. And I agree with the Heap reference. Nice tune, as usual.

I always like your mixes.
This is no exception.

I suppose that's no help but what can I say ........ it sounds pretty damned good to me.
I really like the note-definition you have on everything. Great separation man.

Another groovy song, Rami!
I thought all the tones sounded good. Only thing I thought was not loud enough is the voice, but only at times in the verse. I really like the guitar sound and I I really don't need to comment on the drums. Nice work!

Hi

Great song as usual. I always enjoy listening to your stuff. Montreal rocks!

Nice job on the recording. The guitars sound fine to me. I always enjoy hearing your stuff, because it's mixed well. Nothing in this mix jumps out as something that needs fixing. From here out it's just fine tuning to your personal sense of taste and direction.

Like it ramster. Nice old school riffage. Drums are spot on. Coolness

Hey gys, sorry i didn't respond for a while. I've been working on a the mix a bit, so I wanted to wait until I put up a new version. But I'm still working on it. No big adjustments, but a bit of fine tuning, like the vocal levels in the verses like Joey mentioned, etc....

Thanx a lot for all the comments.

I thought the mix sounded real good. Good tone on everything.

My only comment would be the lead vocals are bone dry. Sound a wee bit out of place from the rest of the instruments. They might sound better if they were doubled too.

One more thing...

I'm not sure the lead vocal performance is the best take you can get. The BGV's sound real nice. But the lead vocal, particularly in the first half of the song, sound a little "stilted." The delivery wasn't as smooth as I think it can be.

Awesome, TripleM. This is the kind of advice I like to get. You're probably 100% right. I usually do my vocals with a bit of a "let's get this tune done already" attitude, and it probably shows sometimes.

I'm going to give them a hard listen and think about re-tracking.

Thanx man.

The guitars sound decent, The vocals could use some reverb or possibly echo in some parts and probably a little de-ess but the drums sound like your hitting plastic garbage can lids. Are they real drums? If they are I would definately go back and re-record, unless of course that's the sound you want.

LOL!

No, I was going for the sound of metal garbage can lids.:D

I just finished re-mixing this, taking in a lot of the advice I got in this thread.

Leaningpipe is right. This isn't a good drum track, I recorded it in July when I first moved into this new place, and I recorded this and another tune with the drums in a certain place, and on both these tunes the drums sound dead. I've since moved them and there's no comparison. I'll probably re-track them eventually.

I already had the vocals doubled, but kept one of the tracks pretty low. I brought it up now based on the fact that a few people said the vocals can use some delay and/or doubling. So, I brought up the doubled track and wet the vocals a bit more. I guess I just have to get used to it. But, I'm always scared of trying to sound too "produced" with big, echo-y Def Leppard type vocals. So, I think I have the tendancy to over-compensate and keep my vocals too dry.

Anyway, I appreciate all the advice from everyone in this thread. I'll probably re-track the drums, but for now, this is what I got.

sounds great, Rami!
Your singing's great, your drums don't sound EVEN A BIT like garbage cans, your snare is faboulous, I love the guitar sound and the way you arranged the song to keep the listener's attention. The voice has a nice roomy sound to it and doesn't sound dry at all. Like I said the first time, love it!
