how are the reverbs different?

What do you get if you spend 1000 versus 500 versus 200$?
Does it make sense to spend $1000 on a reverb unit to use with a $400 amplilfier?

I think it does make sense. The algorithms used in expensive reverbs ( ought to be ) better than the cheap models. As an example - TC-M5000 v/ TC's new cheap machine (hwateverit'snameis) - I don't like the cheap one, but if I had the money, I'd be glad to have a M5000 ..... ( I know the comparison is not between 200 - 1000 dollars - but I think you get what I mean ? )

Also, improved algorithms and sample rates on higher-end
DSP's also justify the increase in price.
For ex., the Behringer DSP1000 various verb's can be only
adjusted in .5 increments and has a sample rate of 44.1 with AD/DA onverters of 18 bits and only 64 preset programs!
You can adjust the Lex MPX1 in .001 increments, has 18A/D-20 D/A bit converters, digital SPDIF's @ 44.1 and at leatst 90db of dynamic range!

You didn't specify if it was for live, recording or both. As this is a "home recording" discussion I assume you want some recording use out of it.

I don't believe for a live guitar rig etc it make alot of sense for a $1000 reverb on a $400 amp but depending on how important a clean lush reverb is to your sound... then maybe it does.

Personally I believe a high end reverb is more important for recording and specifically for voice and acoutic intruments.

Also research your options and look for opinions about specific reverbs. There are several previously discussed threads regaurding wich reverb is best for the money so you should not have to start a new one. All $400 reverbs and $1000 reverbs are not equal, resepctiviely in their results.

I was wondering about this too. Since the "pro" reverbs which are produced with expensive hardware just sound SO good.
I mean, u can take practially any sample u want if it's good, and use the "pro" reverb and it sounds good eg. in trance.
I'm always having problems to decide which lead to choose because they all sound teriff with good reverb! :)
