Ah, avant garde music. How to critique such a thing?
I think that even in experimental styles such as this, a hook is indespensible. There needs to be something that the listener can latch onto as the unifying musical theme or else it's just noise. That can be an artistic choice, I suppose, but you're unlikely to get your message accross unless there's something the listener can relate to.
As to the "suck" factor. The mix is not very good.
The vocals are too low.
Your instruments keep distorting.
The noise floor is inconsistent; when something is playing there's a lot of ambient noise, but during the breaks, you obviously muted all the tracks, resulting in a very jarring silence.
As another artistic thing, I think the drum machine undermines the "earthy" idea. (Though the other instruments work well with that theme.)
I think you've got some good ideas here, but you've a long way to go to really get those ideas across.
