Hi all,

I'm using ACID 6, Winxp and have my guitar plugged into an effects processor and that plugged into the in of my Sound Max audio card. In Preferences in Options I have the Audio Device set to the card. I have inserted a track, armed to record and selected the record inputs for left (because you just have one in my case, right?). I can't get ACID to recognize the guitar. I can hear it through the monitors I'm using, but there is something simple I'm missing here, and I can't see what it is.

I did this hundreds of times before, but it was a couple of years ago, so I'm missing something very fundamental. I searched the internet for over two hours looking for a solution, but to no avail. Can someone please help me? I need to get recording again!

Sincerely and Gratefully,

Fixed it myself!

ASIO4ALL!

Install fixed it all.

Thank you to the 25 people who read the thread!

well, fancy that... asio4all was what i was going to suggest.
problem with average sound cards in general is they can only interpret a signal one way at a time. either a signal is going into the computer being recorded or processed, or it's coming out of the computer. asio4all helps the card process signals both ways at once.
now i can warn you, let's just say you whip up a bass and drum beat in fl studio and then try to record live guitar or vocal over it in acid... when you play the whole thing back the timing will be off and you'll have to spend some time repositioning, stretching, or squishing one track to line up with the other(s) you'll be pulling your hair out by the time you get it where it's supposed to be... (that's why i'm bald).

good luck with it.

frankie,

Thanks for the reply. I won't have the aforementioned problems: never could play drums (real or not) and I record bass live.

thanks again

nice place here, might hang out...
