I just picked up a used ADA8000 because I want a convenient way to convert A to D, go into my sound card and record.
My sound card has an IN and an OUT for the optical connections as does the ADA8000, of course. I only have one cable so I went from the OUT of the ADA8000 to the IN of the sound card. I don't hear anything and after a while there was a rhythmic thhhhmpt sound coming through. I guessed (this is all new to me) that this has something to do with the clock?
I would think I can just have the ADA8000 be the master and the sound card to be the slave so only one cable should be necessary. I have two clock speeds avail on the ADA8000 44.1 and 48. Didn't seem to make a difference which setting I was on.
Assuming I get this figured out, I'm wondering how to get eight channels to show up. The sound card settings only show as stereo. New Driver needed? New sound card? I'm really flying in the dark here, so any input is greatly appreciated.
