Ok... let me start this out by saying don't judge.... unless you're God. If you ARE God, what are you doing reading this post.... you SHOULD be answering my lottery prayers. Just starting out so cut me some slack. Here's he point. So I am setting up my studio for podcast broadcast, voice work, recording, etc. I have some Electrovoice RE-20 Mics and some Shure SM7B mics. They are going to my mixer. I have a Behringer SL3242FX-PRO Mixer and I wish to wire it into my Presonus FireStudio Project Interface and then it goes to my PC. The trick is I have Numark CD Players, a Telos Digital Hybrid Device (for phone call interaction), ART Headphone amps, MD Recorders, a MPD25 Midi Controller/Drum Pad, a KORG Synthesiser, etc. All of which I want to go to the computer. I have hooked this up several different ways and there has got to be a more simple way to do this. I feel like I am under using my Fire Studio Project. Right now, I have my main outs of the mixer going into the 1 & 2 ports of the FS Project. Any ideas or help from the pros or am I doomed to hire an engineer??? Thanx!

I was told I don't need a Compressor or a Pre Amp.... But do I?

God told me to tell you that your lottery prayers have been answered. "Not this week !!" is as much an answer as any.

I think only God would know the answer to your question. You have a lot going on here. You have a lot of equipment that most people are clueless about. You have some kind of set up but provide no detail schematic. You are going to do some kind of podcast but again vague. I think I would just start out with the Shure plugged into your PC.

Truth - if you have that much going on and you don't know if you need a pre amp or a compressor, get an engineer. Without pro help there will always be a doubt in your mind that you could be doing it better.
