Well, I just installed my shiny brandy new ATI All-In-Wonder 8500DV from Best Buy. I went in just fine in my AMD K63 400, Gigabyte MB (don't laugh will be building a new pc soon) with 384MB's Kingston Cas 2 Ram. All this on a WinXP pro sp1.

But, my Cakewalk 2002XL comes up with a problem. When I execute the program I keep getting a message that states that the Home Theater Audio Driver (ATI drivers must have loaded) is not compatible with Cake Walk.

It prompts me to disable or use anyway.... is there any way to fix this. I don't want to miss out on my previously working WDM drivers (Hercules Game Theater 6.1, latest drivers) that worked just fine until intalling the ATI card.

I am at my wits end and I'm thinking about taking the video card back or will install cakewalk on my other pc (PIII 450 - Gaming PC)

I want my Cakewalk and like to eat it too!

I will experiment and install the old Radion DDR card and post my results...

Not sure I understand your description of what is going on here.

First, you can not mix WDM and MME drivers in Sonar (or HS2002). It sounds like that is what is happening here. However, usually the program will prefer the WDM drivers and give you an error message for the MME device. Based on what you said, that doesn't sound like what is happening here.

I am going to assume you do not plan to use the all-in-wonder in Sonar. If that is the case, I would take the "use anyway" message. Then when you get into Sonar, disable the all-in-wonder driver from Options > Audio > Drivers. See if that clears the problem.

I will forewarn you that there is another guy on this BBS who was having major problems with the all-in-wonder card and his audio card. Do a search on all-in-wonder. Don't know if his problems and yours are related, but it might be helpful for you to review his problems.

Solution attained!!!

Well, haven't received any replies from Cakewalk (no surprize). I do appreciate the reply I did get from this forum and I do plan on getting very familiar with this site.

So, here's the solution that I opted for: I created two Hardware Profiles. I use one and named it "Normal Use" for non Cakewalk use and created another one named "Cakewalk" where I disabled all ATI referenced drivers in the Device Manager, about six WDM's. I reinstalled my Hercules audio drivers in the "Cakewalk Profile" and recreated the Aud.ini and shazam! All is well!

Since I reboot before recording... all I have to do is choose the "Cakewalk Recording" Hardware profile. Since this profile is dedicated for just recording I took the liberty of disabling lots of other services that unnecessarily eat up resources.

So, if you have any hardware that is giving you a hard time... disbable them in another Hardware profile and you will be fine.

Now, time to ghost this image to my slave drive, pronto! Just one more windows update....

Thanks again and I hope this helps others out there!

See my thread "Home Studio 2002 Problems". I posted a question to this very BB and I e-mailed CakeWalk at the same time. Guess who solved my problem first???

Am I still waiting for CakeWalk to get back to me???

This is one very helpful little community we've got going here.
