Homemade monitors

I was wondering if any one has suggestions on where to get suitable speakers for some home made nearfield monitors. I'd like to maximise my value for money by just wiring some high quality speakers into an old enclosure but haven't been able to find anything suitable.

might be better to consider used HI-fi... as opposed to lo-fi/mid-fi... remember to look for shielded if you're still using a crt (not lcd)...
