homemade guitar/bass track.

hello

I've piled up some songs, and thought I'd record them and send to a drummer frend of mine. Just want to know about my sounds and levels even more..
Am I overdoing it with the bass?..
Track is named "dive bomber" , hence the aeroplane-effect, done with bass.
Tried to go easy on the distortion, but recorded like 4 guitars at some points, does it sound like crap?
The sizzling rattle in the track came from mp3-conversion, original wav from fostex doesn't sound like a vinyl album.

The song seems quite OK. The bass is a bit lost & pops about here & there.
I have to say, though, that the guitar sound is bloody awful. I had to work to listen as it really blunts the playing by being - well an awful sound. If you have a dry or clean track repost with that so I can hear what you're playing.

yikes!..
That sound is through VOX tonelab with no echoes or delays, plain distortion. It could be too many layers?
