Latest song written by Mike and I. Very simple track with guitar, bass, vocals, session drummer. Let me know what you think of this mix.

Home To You

I oike the song Ido - the sparse arrangement highlight your voice which is a plus.
I'm not really keen on the tone of the guitar. It seems to have some overtones to it that remind me of a farfisa electric organ.
Mike's bass seems to sit better in this than previously.

We've been working on bass a bit - adding a secondary track that emphasizes mids. From the past two songs' comments I think it's working out pretty well! We recorded the guitar - LP Studio I think - through the line out of a JVM210 head.

Nice clear vocals! Love 'em! There is a floppy sounding kick in there... It just sounds weak. But I'm pretty sure it can't be helped much because I think it's just the way the kick sounds. The bass sounds really good. Nice and smooth and tight. Keep up the good work! Maybe a little reverb on the clean guitar.

The drums seem to really lean to the right. That's kind of off-putting to me. Vocals sound great. For a line out I think that's a good guitar recording. Bass sounds nice and mellow. Not bad so far. You gonna do more with it?

Those chords and the progression and the tone sound so familiar. It's like something I would do. :)

Is it your deluxe plus strat?

Nice song Ido.

Man, it's been forever since I've been here! Been working overtime on my new studio. Anyway, I'm glad this was my first listen back.

My first impression of the song is ... sparse. The mix I think is pretty good. Drums seem to lean to the right for me. Also, the hihat is pretty hot in the mix for my taste. Guitar and bass sound nice and smooth (as well as your vocals.) Have you thought of adding some sort of orchestration? I think strings or pads would add some filling to the spaces.

So good to hear your new stuff, Gerry!

Gerry's been quite busy this week. Guitar is my old Strat recently upgraded to classic noisless pickups thru Marshall line out. We've been practising with Session Drummer 3 which obviously needs some tweaks like balancing and levels (you should've heard it before...). We're hoping to have a LIVE drum track soon; once that's in place we may add subtle backup vocals a/o Lead guitar. We are trying to keep it minimal/ subtle. Thanks for your comments and hopefully we'll have an update when PI's fabulous new studio is up and running ("time is crawling by").:)

I feel that the guitar doesn't really blend with the drums, try sticking a bit of reverb on the guitar.

Maybe you can put some sort of stereo widening effect on the guitar as well... due to the sparseness of the mix I find it sits strangely in the stereo field.
