I am really new to the entire digital recording thing. I am trying to set up a small project studio in my house that will allow me to record drums guitar vocals and bass.
I am using:
Sweetwater creation station Pro
Digidesign 002 rack factory bundle
m-audio keyststion pro 88 midi controller
drumkit from hell superrior
For real drums think of a really large 80's metal kit (2 kicks, snare, 4 racks, 2 floors, and too many cymbals to mention.)
I need a large number of channels for this but I want to be able to edit them individually. So running everything through an analog mixer is out of the question because then I can't edit just the snare or I have to put reverb on the entire kit not just the toms. Is there a piece of gear that would alow me to have 8-16 channel added to my 002?
For guitars I have several pre amps that I wisch to run direct they are
ADA MP1
ADA MP 2
Digitech 2120
Line 6 Pod Pro XT
Also I want to be able to quickly run a power amp cabinet for miking as well. Will a Patchbay help here and how would I wire it up?
I have several FX processors and dynamics processors I also want to have set up and ready to go at a momments notice. They are
Lexicon Mpx-1
alesis midiverb (I know its cheap but I love the reverse reverb)
BBE sonic maximizer
aphex aural exciter
beheringer digital EQ
4)alesis 3230comp/gates
Once again will a patchbay work here? and how would it be wired?
I am using this as a project studio but soon hope to add the rest of my band and friends inot it.
I also am having trouble with the midid aspect. I am completly new to this and am struggling through the "users manual" that came with DFHS. Any ideas?
Are there any sources on the web that deal with home studio layout/ design.
Thanks
Jimmy
P.S. If anyone knows of a reaonably priced desk/console that will work with the aformentioned gear let me know I am tired of sitting on the floor LOL
